IL-29 Protein Overview

IL29, or IFNL1, belongs to the interferon-lambda family (also known as type III interferons), whose members are distantly related to both type I interferons (e.g., IFNA2; 147562) and members of the IL10 (124092) family. IL29 has significant antiviral activity and immunoregulatory properties and appears to inhibit T helper-2 (Th2) responses (Srinivas et al., 2008).
