TSPAN7 (Tetraspanin 7) is a protein coding gene located on human chromosome Xp11.4. TSPAN7 is also known as A15, MXS1, CD231, MRX58, CCG-B7, TM4SF2, TALLA-1, TM4SF2b and DXS1692E. The human TSPAN7 gene encodes a 27574 Da protein containing 249 amino acids. The TSPAN7 protein is broadly expressed in brain, adrenal and other tissues. Among its related pathways are Transcriptional misregulation in cancer and Transmission across Chemical Synapses. ENSG00000250349 is an important paralog of TSPAN7 gene. TSPAN7 is associated with some diseases, including Non-Syndromic X-Linked Intellectual Disability and T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

        TALLA-1, also known as TSPAN7, is a member of the transmembrane 4 superfamily Most members of this family are cell-surface proteins that are characterized by the presence of four hydrophobic domains. TALLA-1 gene is associated with X-linked mental retardation and neuropsychiatric diseases such as Huntington's chorea, fragile X syndrome and myotonic dystrophy. TALLA-1 is a cell surface glycoprotein and may have a role in the control of neurite outgrowth. It is known to complex with integrins.
