MRPL38 (Mitochondrial Ribosomal Protein L38, also known as L38MT; RPML3; MRP-L3; HSPC262; MRP-L38), located on 17q25.1, is a Protein Coding gene. This gene encodes a 39S subunit protein and is widely expressed in kidney, testis, and other tissues. MRPL38 is 1 of more than 70 protein components of mitochondrial ribosomes that are encoded by the nuclear genome. MRPL38 belongs to the mitochondrion-specific ribosomal protein mL38 subfamily. Diseases such as Atrial Septal Defect 3 and Pachyonychia Congenita 1 are associated with MRPL38.

    MRPL38 (Mitochondrial Ribosomal Protein L38) is a Protein Coding gene. The MRPL38 gene, located on 17q25.1, is conserved in chimpanzee, Rhesus monkey, dog, cow, mouse, rat, chicken, zebrafish, fruit fly, mosquito, and frog. MRPL38 belongs to the phosphatidylethanolamine-binding protein family, and an important paralog of this gene is PEBP1. This gene encodes a 39S subunit protein. MRPL38 is widely expressed in the kidney, testis, and other tissues. It can overcome the Deltammf1-associated defect. Diseases associated with the MRPL38 include Atrial Septal Defect 3 and Pachyonychia Congenita 1. Among its related pathways are Organelle biogenesis and maintenance and Mitochondrial translation.
