GATA4 is a well-known transcription factor of the GATA family implicated in regulation of sex determination and gonadal development in mammals. The transcription factor GATA4 is a critical regulator of cardiac differentiation-specific gene expression. GATA4, a protein related to osteoblast differentiation and mineralization, whose acetylation is essential for cardiac defects. GATA4 gene encoding the GATA binding protein 4, a binding protein that binds to the ANA sequence GATA, increase susceptibility for alcohol use disorder (AUD). The mutations in GATA4 gene induce inherited atrial and ventricular septation defects, which is the most frequent forms of congenital heart defects (CHDs) constituting about half of all cases.
