BTNL9 (Butyrophilin Like 9) is a protein coding gene located on human chromosome 5q35.3. BTNL9 is also known as BTN3, BTN8 and VDLS1900. The human BTNL9 gene encodes a 59716 Da protein containing 535 amino acids. The BTNL9 protein is biasedly expressed in fat, lung and other tissues. Among its related pathways are Butyrophilin (BTN) family interactions and Innate Immune System. BTN3A3 is an important paralog of BTNL9 gene.

BTNL9 の背景知識

Butyrophilins (Btns) and butyrophilin-like (Btnl) molecules are emerging as novel regulators of immune responses in mice and humans. The human genome contains four identified BTNL genes, with the somewhat confusing designations of 2, 3, 8 and 9. BTNL2, the best-characterized family member, is clustered with the BTN genes on chromosome 6, whereas the much less explored family members BTNL3, BTNL8 and BTNL9 are localized on chromosome 5.
