BTK is a key regulator of B-cell development. Mutations in the BTK gene result in X-linked agammaglobulinemia (XLA; 300755), an immunodeficiency characterized by failure to produce mature B lymphocytes and associated with a failure of Ig heavy chain rearrangement (Rawlings and Witte, 1994).
